2 days Safari from Zanzibar How to get there?

The national parks that you will visit in this 2-day wildlife safari are all in Northern Tanzania in mainland Tanzania, so you will need a flight from Zanzibar to Arusha; a morning flight.

It is therefore possible to start your safari straightaway on your arrival into Zanzibar in case you are arriving very early in the morning to allow you enough time to go through the Immigration for visa stamping and still get at least an hour for your domestic flight check in in order to fly to Arusha.

You will also need a flight back to Zanzibar but ideally you will now need to fly from Kilimanjaro where you can get an evening flight departing from 7 Pm onwards (confirm your flight time with our safari experts). You will therefore arrive back at Zanzibar in the evening and you can arrange for your transfer back to your hotel on your own or we can do it for you at a transfer cost.

Ngorongoro Crater

This two-day safari from Zanzibar is a short safari but a real wildlife galore!

Ngorongoro Crater is the Eden of Africa, with the highest concentration of animals (per sq kilometer) in the world. Nowhere else you will get such a high amount of wildlife in their natural habitat (not tamed) in such a small area. The Crater floor where the animals roam, is only 21 Kilometers in radius, and the area can be explored very satisfactorily in one day. It is a Big Five park as well with a little bit of luck you may spot all of them in a single day.

Ngorongoro Crater’s ecosystem is so important that the conservation area is one of the few UNESCO world heritage sites and it is one of the biosphere reserves. The Ngorongoro Conservation area is also the first geopark in Tanzania.

Tarangire National Park

Often overshadowed by the most famous parks; Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater in the Northern Serengeti, Tarangire National Park is one of the best parks in Tanzania at large. The park is characterized by the large herds of elephants that roam the plains. They are often dwarfed by the huge baobab trees that dot the park almost a symbol of this wildlife park in Tanzania.

2 Days Tanzania Safari from Zanzibar itinerary

Day 01

Zanzibar – Arusha – Tarangire National Park

Early this morning you will make your way to the Zanzibar Domestic Airport where you will check in for your domestic flight Your flight leaves early in the morning from Zanzibar to Arusha. On arrival at Arusha Domestic Airport, you will be picked up by your private safari guide who will usher you to your private 4×4 safari land cruiser, and start your way to Tarangire National Park. In around 2 hours you will arrive at the park’s gate where you will register at the park’s gate and start on your first safari game drives right away. You will explore the Tarangire plains viewing wildlife especially near the banks of Tarangire River that attracts many animals that visit the river to drink water. Tarangire is home to large herds of elephants, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, cheetahs, grants gazelles, Thompson gazelles, impalas and many more. Later in the afternoon you will be transferred to Karatu where you will check in for dinner and overnight stay at Marera Valley Lodge or Country Lodge Karatu. Lunch and dinner included.

Day 02

2 Days Tanzania Safari - Ngorongoro Crater - Kilimanjaro

This day needs an early start in order to better your chances to see more animals especially the rare ones like Black Rhinos as they retire from a night of grazing. The small and big cats too are more active in the morning before the sun is hot. You will drive in the early morning to the Loduare Gate; the main gate to Ngorongoro Conservation Area where you will register and drive to the Crater’s rim where you will make another brief stop at the View Point. You will spend a few minutes to marvel at the stunning views over the Crater floor then descend to the Crater floor for a fun-filled day of game drives. Ngorongoro Crater as it is famously know is actually the largest unbroken Caldera in the world formed after the collapse of a very huge Volcano believed to be wider than Mt Kilimanjaro. The Crater walls are 600 meters high so they act as a natural zoo where more than 30,000 animals roam including the Big Five. You expect to see lions, elephants, zebras, topis, elands, jackals, hyenas, Buffaloes, and with luck you might spot the elusive leopard and rarely the black rhinos. Later in the afternoon after satisfactory game drives you will be taken through Arusha town and transferred further to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your evening flight back to Zanzibar Island where your safari ends. Breakfast and lunch included.
